Bergeseen Group FAQs
Virtual Therapy, Coaching & International Support
Do you work with clients internationally?
Yes. Bergeseen Group works with clients in different parts of the world through virtual counseling, coaching, consultation, and group support. Availability depends on provider, service type, and location.
If you’re unsure what type of support is available where you live, we can clarify that during the consultation.
I am an American living abroad. Can you work with me?
In many cases, yes. Some clients are living abroad temporarily or long term and are looking for support that understands the experience of navigating life, family, health, parenting, or identity across cultures.
Because availability depends on provider, service type, and location, the best first step is to reach out and share where you are located.
I don’t live in the United States. Can you work with me?
Possibly. Bergeseen Group offers virtual support internationally, but the type of service available may depend on where you live and which provider is the right fit.
During the consultation, we can talk through your location, what kind of support you’re looking for, and what options may be available.
Do you offer support for expats or people living abroad?
Yes. Some of our providers live and work internationally and understand the emotional, logistical, and relational challenges that can come with living abroad.
Support may include counseling, coaching, consultation, or group support for concerns such as anxiety, transition stress, parenting abroad, reproductive mental health, chronic illness, caregiving, relationship stress, or identity changes.
Getting Started With Therapy
How do I know if therapy is the right next step?
Many people reach out when something has been on their mind or affecting their day-to-day life for a while. You don’t need a diagnosis or a clear explanation before starting. If something feels difficult to manage, confusing, or persistent enough to keep your attention, that’s usually a reasonable place to begin.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is a chance to talk through what’s been going on and what led you to reach out. We’ll look at what you’ve noticed, what you’ve already tried, and where things feel unclear or difficult.
You don’t need to prepare anything in advance. The goal is simply to understand your situation and begin to figure out what kind of support would be helpful.
How do I know which provider is the right fit?
If you’re unsure where to start, we can help guide you. Different providers may focus on different areas, such as working with children, parents, or specific concerns like ADHD or chronic illness.
Many people begin with a consultation to talk through their needs and determine the best fit.
What if I'm not sure what kind of support I need?
You don’t need to figure that out on your own. Many people start with a consultation to talk through what’s been going on and determine whether counseling, coaching, consultation, or group support would be most helpful.
Do I need a diagnosis before starting therapy?
No. Many people begin therapy because something feels difficult, unclear, or concerning, not because they have a formal diagnosis.
What if I've been dealing with this for a long time?
That’s okay. Many people come in after trying to manage things on their own for a while, sometimes for years. The work can start wherever you are.
What if I'm not ready to commit yet?
You’re welcome to reach out with questions or schedule a consultation to get a better sense of what support would look like before making a decision.
Can I reach out just to ask questions?
Yes. You can reach out to ask about services, fees, or what might be the right next step for your situation.
Therapy For Children, Parents & Families
Do you work with both adults and children?
Yes. Support is available for adults, children, and parents.
Some services focus on individual support, while others involve working with parents to help them understand and respond to what’s happening with their child.
How do I know if my child needs support?
Parents often notice changes before there is a clear explanation. This might include emotional responses that seem stronger than expected, difficulty keeping up with schoolwork, or patterns that feel hard to manage at home.
If something feels different or difficult to understand, it can be helpful to talk it through.
What does therapy look like for children?
Work with children often includes helping them understand what they’re experiencing and building skills to manage emotions, attention, or behavior.
It also includes working with parents to create consistency at home and support the child in a way that fits their needs.
How involved are parents in the process?
Parents are often an important part of the work, especially with younger children. This may include regular check-ins, guidance on how to respond at home, and support in making decisions related to school, routines, and behavior.
How do I support my child if I'm worried about their health?
Parents are often balancing concern with uncertainty… trying to decide what needs attention and what may be typical.
Support can include helping you make sense of what you’re seeing, decide when to act, and respond in a way that feels appropriate without increasing stress for your child.
ADHD, Perfectionism & Burnout Support
Do you offer support for ADHD?
Yes. Support is available for both children and adults navigating ADHD.
This includes understanding how attention, organization, and follow-through show up in daily life, and developing practical ways to manage responsibilities, expectations, and emotional responses.
How is ADHD different in women and girls?
ADHD can look different in women and girls. Some are not disruptive or outwardly inattentive, but are working very hard behind the scenes to stay organized, meet expectations, and keep up. Because of this, it can be overlooked for years, even when it’s creating significant strain.
What if I've always managed, but things feel harder now?
This is very common. Many people develop ways of coping that work for a long time. As responsibilities increase or life becomes less structured, those same strategies can become harder to sustain.
Therapy can help you understand what’s been working, what’s no longer working, and how to adjust.
Health Anxiety, Chronic Illness & Pain
Do you help with anxiety about health or symptoms?
Yes. Many people come in because they’re concerned about a symptom or physical change and aren’t sure how to respond.
This includes situations where there is no clear diagnosis, as well as cases involving chronic illness or ongoing medical conditions.
What if doctors say everything is fine, but I'm still concerned?
This happens more often than people expect. You may have already taken appropriate steps and still feel unsure about what you’re experiencing. Therapy can help you sort through how to respond in that space and make decisions about what to do next.
Can health anxiety happen alongside a real medical condition?
Yes. Many people living with chronic illness or chronic pain also experience concern about their symptoms. The focus is not on dismissing the condition, but on helping you respond to it in a way that feels more manageable.
Counseling, Coaching, Consultation & Groups
What is the difference between counseling, coaching, and consultation?
Counseling is ongoing therapeutic support that focuses on patterns over time, emotional responses, relationships, and day-to-day functioning.
Coaching is often more focused on practical support, skill-building, decision-making, or helping you move toward a specific goal.
Consultation is typically focused on a specific concern or question, such as parenting strategies, navigating a diagnosis, school concerns, or deciding what kind of support may be most helpful.
You do not need to know which one you need before reaching out. We can talk through that during the consultation.
Do you offer group support?
Yes. Groups are available for areas such as ADHD, chronic illness, parenting, and life transitions.
Groups are designed to be practical and focused on real-life situations, including how to make decisions and respond to what’s happening week to week.
How do I know if a group is right for me?
Some people benefit from relating to others in similar situations and having a space to process their decisions in real time.
If you’re unsure, you can reach out and we can help you determine whether a group or individual support would be a better fit.
Are groups virtual or in person?
Groups are currently held virtually, which allows for more flexibility and consistency.
Session Logistics, Fees & Insurance
How often are sessions held?
Sessions are typically held weekly or every other week, depending on your needs and what makes sense for your situation.
How long are sessions?
Most sessions are 50 minutes. Shorter sessions may be available when appropriate.
Do you accept insurance?
No, we do not accept insurance. For clients with US insurance, we use a service called Thrizer to help simplify the process of utilizing out-of-network reimbursement claims.
What is Thrizer and how does it work?
Thrizer is a service that helps clients access out-of-network reimbursement and manage insurance claims. It can simplify the process of submitting claims and understanding what may be reimbursed.
Support For Schools & Organizations
Do you offer services for schools or organizations?
Yes. Educational consultation and group presentations may be available for schools, practices, and community organizations.
Still Have Questions?
If something here feels relevant to what you’ve been experiencing, or you’re unsure how it applies to your situation, we’re happy to talk that through with you.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Many people start with a consultation to get a clearer sense of what support would be most helpful and how to move forward.
